Chandra Ghosh Jain

"I write for the love of writing. It's the ear of the ear, it's the mind of the mind, it's the speech of the speech, it's the breathe of the breathing, it's the eye of the eye..."
I write because I love to write. My mind is set free, on wings of passion and can fly to unknown lands and time. Searching for answers to hitherto unasked questions. Somewhere, sometime there is a hope that the writings will find an answering chord. Often thoughts come as a swirling sandstorm in a desert. Or as the first raindrops on a parched dry earth. I write to make sense of it all. To capture the beauty of the wild and the unknown terrain of my mind. I write for all those who wish to read and share my journey in an imagined land.
Chandra was born in Calcutta and spent her formative years in Delhi. She graduated in Economics (Honours) from Miranda House, Delhi University. She received her post graduation in Economics from Jawahar Lal Nehru University New Delhi. For a brief while she taught Economics in Delhi University as a lecturer. She did her research on the ‘Changing Agrarian relations and it’s impact on development’ from Rajasthan University. Marriage brought her to Rajasthan a desert state, where time appeared to stand still. The veil separating the past from the present was thin. One could sense the fact that the history, which shaped the destiny of the place, hadn’t been lost. The violent and blinding sandstorms which blows through the hot summer months, revealed new shapes and contours, telling a different tale each time.
Time seemed to stand still all one had to do was brush away the sands to recall a tale of surprising intensity. She is presently staying in Jaipur. She is currently working on a collection of short stories, ‘Quixotic Quest and other Tales’ and her novel ‘Dancing on the Edge of Despair’
Her tale ‘Sita’s letter to her unborn daughter’ has been published by Penguin in an anthology ‘In search of Sita’ edited by Malashri Lal and Namita Gokhale.
“Memsaheb and the Thief’ a collection of short stories has been published by Bumblebee Publishers. Many of her short stories have been e-published as well.

Joy Clarkson

I am Joy; single Indian woman, a woman learning to cope with the empty-nest syndrome and a writer in-the-making. I’ve made the transition from being a working mom for over twenty-two years, to Stay-at-home mom to WAHM (work-at-home-mom) quite well. I have thoroughly enjoyed discovering myself. It’s been an enriching experience and I’ve learnt a lot of lessons on the way, and discovered many facets that I didn’t know existed in me. Life is worth the living if one is able to embrace life with all it has to offer….the agonies and the ecstasies. Today, as a soon-to-be grandmother, I stand at the threshold of a new phase in my life with the same kind of excitement and expectancy I experienced as a teenager getting into college; a new bride; a new mother….I’m alive.

Mita Banerjee
I’m a mother, wife, teacher and writer…though not always in that order. As I accompanied my Air Force husband on his many postings, I taught all ages from playgroup pre-schoolers to post-graduate ‘twenty-somethings’ when I was Director of a Mass Communication Institute in Pune. Writing has always been a passion, and I’ve written on every topic under the sun (apart from politics and films), and these have been published in various newspapers, magazines, and also in a few books. My most cherished project however, was a coffee-table book on young women achievers ‘The 21st Century belongs to them’ which was released by then-President Dr Abdul Kalam in Delhi, and by Dr Kiran Bedi in Pune.

Sangeeta Deogawanka
Born into a female-centric family, Sangeeta has evolved from a rebellious daughter to a traditional wife and a “mamma who rocks” within the space of this very lifetime. In the journey, she has explored all nuances possible of female-dom and reveled in the process. Albeit like her favourite Riviera wines, she has savoured life and mellowed in her outlook as she navigated each phase.
Walking through the various roles as a woman, she has discovered stree-shakti, the power of a woman to bring about radical changes in the micro as well as macro environment. An essentially spiritual and religious woman, she draws on her innate self for inspiration, trying to light up lives …. sometimes even singeing in the process.
As a non-conformist careerist, Sangeeta has done it all, from managing a company to drawing up legal documents, negotiating with bankers till late or serving coffee to clients, and more. However, her journey into the magic world of words began with poetry at the age of 6. The written word has today become Sangeeta’s lifeline, the water of her life that sustains her. It is no wonder that her first start-up has been a niche publishing firm.
Bored easily, adventurous and a knowledge freak, Sangeeta doesn’t believe in settling into a groove, but constantly upgrading herself, vis-à-vis her roles, her work areas and views, that range from the politically correct and radical reformist to free-thinking or even outlandish.
Known for her wacky sense of humour and witty texts/ posts, life with Sangeeta is best described a “roller-coaster”. Even as she celebrates womanhood in all its Indian glory, Sangeeta continues to live life on her own terms, dubbing herself as the 21st century makeover of the hitherto quintessential Indian woman.
